Paula Ner Dormiendo
Paula is a multidisciplinary artist inspired by themes of identity, home and belonging. Creating primarily within film, photography and painting, her works have been featured on CBC, CP24, Reelworld Film Festival, NFFTY and supported by Canon Canada and the City of Brampton.
In ‘What Makes a House a Home?’ Paula captures her maternal and paternal grandparents’ houses exploring the different iterations of home informed by her family’s stories, history, and ephemera.
Paula said that creating this project allowed her to more vulnerably interact and explore recurring themes of home and identity in her work in ways she hadn’t had the opportunity to do in a while. “It really freed me of restrictive structures and allowed me to focus solely on the joys of my creative process and the mysteries the photos presented rather than the outcome,” said Paula.
